Wal-Mart Associates are offered competitive pay, along with medical insurance. Over 90 percent of associates working at Wal-Mart have health care coverage at reasonable prices. (Some workers are covered for under $10 per month.) Once the associate becomes eligible for coverage, his or her children are also covered under the plan. Generic versions of prescription drugs are available to Wal-Mart employees for $4 each.
This company realizes that there is not one coverage option that is going to be a good fit for everyone, and employees are able to customize their healthcare coverage. Deductibles, premium levels, and coverage options can be personalized to fit the needs of each employee. The fact that most of Wal-Mart’s health care expenses don’t have a lifetime cap.
Employees are able to participate in a 401(k) Plan for retirement savings, as well as profit sharing. People working at Wal-Mart also have the opportunity to become part owners in the company by participating in the Associate Stock Purchase Program. Most broker fees are waived for associates who choose to participate in this plan. There’s even a Walmart Scholarship available for associates.
Along with his or her regular pay, associates may receive performance bonuses based on the revenue from their store. Wal-Mart wants to recognize long-term employees, and associates and assistant manager who have been employed by the organization for 20 years or more are given an extra week’s pay.
