- Traffic Coordinators prepare plans and organize the operations of rail yards and depot operations. They are in charge of organizing work schedules and direct freight operations and the proper handling of dangerous goods and other restricted cargo. Traffic Coordinators working for VIA Rail earn on average $32,000 (USD) annual salary.
- Freight Car Repairers inspect, maintain and repair freight cars and locomotives and keep the trains running on time and safely. They also maintain shop machinery they need to use to make these repairs including overhead cranes, lifting devices and pumps. Apprentice candidates need to have a high school diploma and at least one year of mechanical or engine maintenance experience. These positions generally pay from $27,450 to $39,000 (USD) annually.
