Pinedale, Wyoming Natural Gas
Located on Highway 191 on the western end of the Wind River Mountain Range is the town of Pinedale, Wyoming. With a population of just over 2,000 people, the town is a tranquil outpost that lies 100 miles north of Rock Springs, Wyoming and 77 miles south of ski-town Jackson, Wyoming.
With approximately 10 inches of rain per year and exactly zero traffic lights, Pinedale is a town that offers the outdoor enthusiast a variety of activities to choose from including excellent camping, abundant 4-wheeling, mountain biking, horseback riding and water sports on more than 1300 lakes located in the region. From Pinedale, visitors and residents can experience western Wyoming’s picturesque scenery including Wyoming’s highest mountain: 13,804 foot tall Gannett Peak. Pinedale is also conveniently located near the Bridger-Teton National Forest, which has the largest active glacial fields in the continental United States.
Pinedale’s population density of 1.2 people per square mile makes it a perfect place for a stage stop on the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race, which is the largest sled dog race in the contiguous United States. The town has the Pinedale Aquatic Center which is a comprehensive athletic facility that offers classrooms, racquetball court, leisure pool, regulation size competition pool an indoor track and a regulation gymnasium.
Pinedale’s economy centers around natural gas and crude oil production. With an elevation of 7,100 feet, the town lies in northern Sublette County adjacent to the Pinedale Anticline and only 30 miles north of the Jonah Field, whose production places it as one of the fastest growing oil fields in the American Rockies.
