It’s important to note that although these jobs can be found at every level of law enforcement, not every police department will necessarily offer all of these opportunities. A small rural municipal police department or county sheriff’s department is highly unlikely to have its own in-house SWAT team, for example. If there was ever a case when a SWAT team was needed in the department’s jurisdiction, the head of the department would most likely call upon the state police to provide assistance and a SWAT team if available.
