Circle K Franchises
The Circle K convenience store may be just what you are looking for when it comes to a franchise business opportunity.
It is a well-established chain of stores that is international in size and it also has been around a long-time – since 1951. The company owns thousands of stores, and then began franchising them in 1999. Circle K is now owned by the Alimentation Couche-Tard company.
Entrepreneur.com gives Circle K a rank of number eight when it comes to best franchise opportunities available. This means that their franchise program and brand recognition certainly comes with a lot of features that will help you get established quickly and solidly in your new business venture.
In the United States, the Circle K is primarily in the southern and western states. Overseas, the convenience store has many locations in Japan, Mexico, Guam, China and a few more. There are currently more franchise stores in foreign locations – 3,676, than there are in the US – 467, although the company owns another 2,600+ in the US.
Circle K franchises offer exclusive territories – as well as a lot of potential for new store locations. Currently, the company is only looking to establish new stores in four states – California, Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii. The company will also consider turning existing properties into their own brand stores, which is a much cheaper option if you already own a store. Franchise owners can own either a single site or multiple sites, and there is a term requirement of 10 years – or for the term of the lease – if it is less.
Because Circle K has been in business for a long time and has many stores, they are able to offer excellent training. Training takes place at their headquarters in Phoenix, AZ for two weeks, and then another two weeks will be spent at other stores.
Other training comes primarily in the form of manuals or CD’s which will cover most of the daily operations and other needs that a convenience store will need – including training your employees and updates from the main office.
There is a franchise business opportunity fee of $15,000. A franchisee will also need to have a net worth of at least $300,000. The total cost of the investment will be between $546,000 and $1,350,000. There is also a royalty fee of 4%, and an advertising fee of 2%. The company does provide some financing.
Circle K stores have some popular brands of coffee and soft drinks, as well as using quality fuels at some locations, which includes Shell, BP, Chevron, Citgo, and more. Apart from the usual convenience store products, it also sells wireless phones, gift cards, money orders, and other products.
