Mail Service in the Czech Republic and Slovakia
The Czech and Slovak postal services are fairly efficient most of the time.
Airmail letters and small packages take five days to two weeks to travel between the republics and North America, depending on where you send them from. As a general rule, the farther you are from a major city the longer it takes (both sending and receiving).
If you don’t have a stable address, you can receive mail poste restante, or if you have an American Express card or American Express traveler’s checks you can receive mail through the American Express offices in Prague or Bratislava. (The services available through American Express can be invaluable, so get their checks or a card if you can.) Make sure to carry identification with you when you pick up your mail. A passport is your best bet.
