Winter break seems to be in full swing and the start of Chanukah and Christmas is just days away. No doubt that the last thing you want to do right now is slave over your resume and worry about networking. BUT… don’t let the temptation of holiday sweets and that punch bowl full of eggnog distract you from your most important mission: Finding a job. And not just any job, a great job. A job with a good salary, robust benefits and plenty of opportunities for growth. Maybe even something unusual and fun like a ski instructor job (seasonal but fun for sure!).
If you need some inspiration to stay on track (beyond the salary, benefits and growth opportunities), spend a few minutes browsing through some of these great links that I’ve dug up this week.
>> Apropos to my post on Tuesday about holiday job hunting, here is some more incentive to stay the course. Mary Elizabeth Bradford also has a post on this same topic: Holiday Job Hunting… Why You should Do It
>> Ten Easy Ways to Find a Job During Winter Break at ABC News on Campus, written by one of my favorite bloggers, Lindsey Pollak. In addition to her regular blog, she also seems to have a new gig over at ABC as the News on Campus correspondent. This article has the same theme as the ones above, although hers is aimed at college students. Definitely worth a read, whether you live in a dorm or not.
>> Got Laid Off? What To Do When You Lose Your Job @ The Digerati Life. I hope none of you find yourself in this situation, but if you do, be sure to read this post from the blog billed as “money and finance in Silicon Valley.” Despite the blog’s bay-side leanings, the advice stands good for the Heartland, too.
>> Americans Turning to Online Education @ Secrets of the Job Hunt. I found this blog and the post after writing my post on Monday about online degrees. Thought some of you find some insights from this interview with Michael Clifford, the president of the SignificantFederation consulting firm.
That’s it for me this freezing cold Friday. Hope you have a great and productive weekend.
