On March 20, 2017 aka World Happiness Day, the 2017 World Happiness Report was published and it shines the spotlight on the happiest places on the planet.
Should You Relocate for a Job?
This is the 5th edition of the World Happiness Report. Every year, we are always fascinated by how each country ranks because they always shuffle around a bit. Before you look at this year’s list, find out who topped the list in 2016 and 2015. This year, the report ranked 155 countries based on the following factors:
- GDP per capita
- Social Support
- Healthy Life Expectancy
- Freedom To Make Life Choices
- Generosity
- Perceptions of Corruption
It’s easy to see how these factors contribute to one’s overall happiness. Now let’s take a look at this year’s list of the happiest countries in the world in 2017:

- Iceland – 7.504
- Switzerland – 7.494
- Finland – 7.469
- Netherlands – 7.377
- Canada – 7.316
- New Zealand – 7.314
- Australia – 7.284
- Sweden – 7.284
- Israel – 7.213
- Costa Rica – 7.079
- Austria – 7.006
- United States – 6.993
- Ireland – 6.977
